What is WordPress Used For?
Want to know what WordPress is used for? WordPress is a free blogging platform for Internet websites both personal and commercial. It is no doubt the most popular platform which is used by many big name companies in the world.
WordPress has the interface and flexibility through which website owners are able to easily add and modify their websites contents without having to know anything about website coding or design. WordPress is also highly customizable with various plugins, which provide a large variety of benefits such as SEO and social bookmarking. With the power of WordPress however, it can be difficult to install for the less experienced, so a web hosting company should allow you to install WordPress with a click of a button or at least provide you with comprehensive how-to's on making the most of your blog.
There is of course a couple more crucial elements that you'll need to have a WordPress blog up and running from your web hosting company. You see WordPress is built and run by utilizing what's known as PHP programming and an SQL database. If your planned website hosting company does not have the ability to run PHP applications and install an SQL database then stay away.
There are of course hundreds if not thousands of web hosting companies which provide WordPress support. Most offer similar features, and many of the big names like Hostgator offer you unlimited features (bandwidth and disk space) for less cost than the smaller companies offer you and have limited features.
